David was trained as an attorney at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He also received his bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA). He is currently licensed to practice law in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Dave joined the Gutwein Law team to help clients build and protect their business. Specifically, he helps growth-oriented business identify and manage their intellectual property through long-term corporate goals.
Having been in both external and internal legal counsel roles, experience clearly shows that the most valuable attorneys are often a combination of risk translator and strategic consultant to the business. His prior roles will return value by providing pragmatic advice, understanding the real implications of the decisions business have to make.

Dave’s experience as a prior president of a battery manufacturing company gives him the distinct advantage of having expansive experience in the energy industry and also keeps him on the pulse of the industry as acting president of BIC in Indiana.
